Bill and I will be roving in the September VHF contest. We are going to Western CO to stir up same activity up there, but we will be very accessible in NM as well. Here is the itinerary.

In case the formatting doesn’t hold, I have also attached the itinerary as an RTF file.

We will have all bands from 50MHz to 24GHz (WBFM) with good capability on all bands through 1296 MHz, low power on the microwave bands, and the 24GHz depends more on the operators than the gear. I don’t think NM has seen the like of Bill’s rover before!

We will have both SSB and CW, so if we don’t comeback on phone, call on CW. We will also have FM on 144MHz, 222MHz, and 432MHz. It takes a bit to change from the weak signal modes to FM, but we will do it for the multi.

We will also have the capability to update our location on both APRS and DX-Clusters automatically through an app called RoverStatus. It will automatically post our grid square, and we can manually enter frequency of operation and other messages, such as when we enter a new grid. We are not sure how all this will work, so please bear with us. Our fall back position is to post our position on APRS with another app, which was proven in the June contest. WB2FKO found the APRS posts very useful in the June contest. Texting also proved useful in the June contest, my cell number is (505) 228-5491 and Bill’s is (505)205 4253. Feel free to text us if you need to and you can call us if all else fails. Text is easier to handle in the rover, just don’t expect an immediate answer. Phone calls are tougher.

At the beginning of the trip, there is likely to be enough activity that the calling frequency on 6 & 2 will be crowded. When the calling frequency is crowded we will operate 5KHz up.

You may have received this twice, if so I am sorry, but I have problems maintaining totally independent mailing lists. Some of you live in overlapping Hilbert spaces on my computer. Please forgive. Look and listen for us- Duffey KK6MC
