[NLRS] Killed my amp? Probably

I kinda figured they weren't, which is why I suppose the flood of knockoffs
is quite fruitful now. I have a few of the Chinese clones of the 646, two
of them are installed in a RFC 2-417, they seem to work just fine but it
remains to be seen just how long they will last. 45w of drive produces
about 190w after a tuneup of the amp. So they definitely make some RF, but
as to how reliable they are over time I don’t have an answer yet. Of course
as cheap as they are if they even last a year it was worth it.

Motorola isn't making RF transistors these days. They spun that
operation off to Freescale. NXP began to make similar parts along with
MACOM.
