Here is what I wrote and all ya'll are welcome to use any or all of it:
------------------------------
I'm a constituent and an amateur radio operator. I am writing to urge
Senator Klobuchar to support S. 1685, the Amateur Radio Parity Act, when it
comes up for a vote in committee on November 18th.
Amateur radio, at no cost to taxpayers, provides a fertile ground for
technical self-training in modern telecommunications, electronics
technology, and most importantly last resort emergency communications
techniques and protocols (Think Katrina). Public and commercial systems are
fragile in a disaster situation like 911, Katrina, and other world wide
disasters; often relying on Amateur Radio operators working with other
public and private agencies to fill in that gap while other systems are
being repaired, and often by the very same group of professionals that are
themselves part of the 700,000 USA Amateur radio community. Ongoing and
increasing application of private land use restrictions, including
restrictive covenants has been affecting the effectiveness of Amateur radio
communications, especially in emergency situations.
Thank you.

It is critical that all of you act now on this issue as the current
Prognosis: 1% chance of being enacted
https://www.govtrack.us/congress/bills/114/s1685
We have received notice that S 1685 will be one of the bills in the "mark
up" process at the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation
next week. Mark-up is an extremely important step in the bill's progress
through the Senate.
Amy Klobuchar, one of Minnesota's two Senators, is a member of this
committee, so we Minnesotans have a special reason to e-mail her to ask for
her support of the bill. You can get to Senator Klobuchar's e-mail input
form at:
http://www.klobuchar.senate.gov/public/email-amy
Your message doesn't need to be long or detailed. You could say something
like:
"I'm a constituent and an amateur radio operator. I am writing to urge
Senator Klobuchar to support S. 1685, the Amateur Radio Parity Act, when it
comes up for a vote in committee on November 18th. Thank you."
The 18th is this Wednesday. Please send a message to Amy as soon as you
can, and let her know that there are people among her constituents who care
about and support this bill. Your e-mail can help make a difference!
