Hello NLRS land -
This weekend features two microwave events. The first is the CSVHFS sponsored Spring Sprint for 902 and up. This event is Saturday, May 2, from 8 am to 1 pm local. Scoring is simply 1 point per km. A rover who moves to a new grid may be worked again, but grids do not figure into the scoring .... its just 1 point per km and then add up all your distance points. There is no club competition. Full rules at https://sites.google.com/site/springvhfupsprints/home/2015-information
The second event is the SBMS 2304 & Up contest. This contest runs from Saturday, May 2, 6am to Sunday, May 3 11:59pm local. You can operate for 24 of the 48 hrs. Bands are 2.3 GHz and up. Scoring is based on distance, 1 point per km, plus 100 points for each unique call worked per band. Additional contacts may be made once one end of any contact has moved at least ten miles. There is both individual and a club competition. Full rules at http://n6nb.com/sbmsrules.htm .
Note that for both contest events that full spotting and use of coordination is allowed, but that call signs and exchanges must be sent, received and acknowledged on the microwave band where the contact is claimed. Also note that contacts made on Saturday during the uW Sprint on 2.3 GHz and up may count for both contests .... bonus !
For Saturday morning, W0ZQ plans to operate from my home station on 902, 1296, 2304, and 3456. If any rover wishes to stop by I can work them on 5760, 10 and 24 GHz too. I can be reached at 952-807-3816 and will be listening on 144.260 as well.
For Sunday the current plan, subject to change, is to equip the rover with 2304, 3456, 5760, and 10 G to work somebody somewhere. The SBMS contest allows new contacts once a rover/portable station moves at least ten miles. If there is a rover pack that is forming up I would most likely join them. Again 952-807-3816 and 146.46 for local comm.
73, Jon
