The PSKreporter web site is showing a significant opening all over the
eastern half of the US. It extends from about Minnesota down to
Dallas, TX, and everything to the east. Activity in Minnesota and most of
Wisconsin is minimal. I am specifically PSKreporter configured as:
On 6M, show signals sent/received by anyone, using all modes, over the
last 15 minutes.

FYI, PSKreporter takes reception reports from most ham radio sound
card digital software using any mode the software can decode. Most of
these reports are showing 50.277MHz and using JT65 mode. The web site
says there are 72 stations reporting 6M activity and none of the
reports are from CW stations.

Judging from the map, I'd guess the reflecting cloud is in the
Kentucky-West Virginia area since that is the mid point of most of the
paths. N0UR has reported hearing 15 stations on JT65, mostly from
Georgia, Virginia, North and South Carolina, and a couple in Ohio in
the last hour. VE4AMU from Winnipeg has reported hearing five
stations from the same area.

If I generalize a bit more, I'd suggest that if you really want to
work 6M DX, you will increase your chances significantly if you start
operating JT65 on 6M. The same with 10M. I almost always see
intercontinental JT65 activity on 10M every day I look. It is still a
pity that there are so few digital activity reports coming out of the
Dakotas, Minnesota, and Wisconsin.....
