I'll be on 6 and 2 weather permitting. Forecasts are not great,
thunderstorms Saturday and Sunday and severe thunderstorms Thursday into
Friday.
The 432 antenna is showing so high a SWR at the rig that the 857 is
shutting down. I replaced some of the feedline in the house and the
duplexor at the antennas without great improvement. The N coax connector
was loose on the 432 antenna. I need to test the duplexor on the roof
with a good dummy load. The SWR on 2m is nearly perfect. The antenna on
432 is a K2RIW that I had in the air more than 30 years. It may have
gone open. I have another one like it that I'll check and try to get up,
maybe a FO-09 that has tested good at CSVHF a couple times and is only a
couple years old with no weather exposures. The wind and rain in the
next three days will determine whether I get to the roof. I was detoured
from that today by having to go sign paperwork for a gas line easement
through my farm. The gas company finally agreed to my terms. Then I
needed to fix an outlet in the shed that I destroyed yesterday with a
power rake winding up an extension cord. A new Airstream axle is due
about 50 miles from here tomorrow so I'll need to go pick it up if it
isn't too stormy.
6 and 2 work good, 432 may be working or might not be. Monday after I
changed some things I couldn't copy N4PZ which is a really bad sign.
