W7QQ/r and I will be roving in the CQ WW VHF contests July 18 and July 19. Our itinerary is below. Please try to work us. Print out the itinerary and put it next to your rig.
Bill has a well equipped rover, 300W on 6M to a Moxon up 13.5 feet, and 300W on 2M to an 8ft 6el Yagi at 12 feet. Short low loss feed lines and sensitive DEMI transverter front ends means we can listen well, particularly in the remote locations where noise is low. One of us will be operating and one driving, so we will be on pretty much all the time. The antennas can be rotated while in motion. We can monitor both 6M and 2m at the same time, so we are unlikely to miss openings on 6M or a newcomer to 2M.
This is a 6M and 2M only contest, so you can have lots of fun without having equipment for the higher bands or trying to juggle bands. We can also do CW, so if we don’t come back to you on SSB try CW. CW is underutilized in the VHF contests, but that is changing. Be part of the change.
More to come as we figure things out. Listen for the weak ones. - Duffey KK6MC
