Another rove and and another set of lessons learned. It is almost
impossible to get to new grids on schedule travel times. As soon as I am
start up the truck to move to the new grid then started to make Q's so
goes the schedule. Don't trust the GPS verify with a map if the route
seems not to make sense, it was the wrong roads... took some strange back
roads to a new grid. Waking up to snow on Sunday morning add to some
intense roving.. How may people can be on abandoned road in the middle of
now where and have a snow plow truck pull up from behind you and honk the
horn?

My SAL Moxan is not the best on 6 meter need to get it up higher. My 2304
died before the contest. I need to learn CW.... Also I roved for the
first time with myself, so I did not have the computer, rotor or anything
in the passenger seat strapped down, for me to operate 2304, and 1296 I
need to operate these from passenger rear of the suburban, open the front
door to grab the laptop.... the laptop took a hard tumble - but survived
the USB mouse dongle did not... thank you Lord the log was saved......

Thanks for those that operated the higher bands and your consideration of
my poor CW skills. I think next rove I will spend more time calling on the
other rover frequencies... to get more Q time with them

I appreciate all the fixed stations that followed me and tried to make sure
they met up with me in new grids, Wyatt is a hoot to rove with.... It was
great to have grid madness in Newhall, IA at the end of the contest, to
meet up with W9FZ/R KA9VVQ/R and ACORA/R for and eyball qso and shack
tours!!! . we need to have another grid madness event..
