A FUN contest for January. My score more than double last years horrific result. The bands seemed not too bad during the first two or three hours of the contest, but sure were poor the rest of the time here, after the front passed through. Some nice DX and some nice signals at distances less than 150miles too, but lots of real weak signals.
Nothing heard from NT0V or W0PHD. I called and called both days and never heard a peep. Worked VE3KRP and W0ANH on several bands Saturday. Barry VE4MA good sig on 2m but weak on 432. 222 was a bust, not even WSJT! Worked several stations around Duluth: K0MVJ, WB0DBQ, WB0DHB. Caught Vern K0VG EN27 to the west, nice signal. More WI stations than for some time, WA9LFO included but only worked K9MU on one band (Sat). WB0YWW and N0URW were loud early Saturday from IA. Rovers account for 26 QSOs out of 110. KC0P, N0HZO, W9FZ, KA9VVQ, AC0RA. More Qs with Wyatt than anyone else. Sure good to see Bruce and Janice in the log again, some nice log haul Qs. Mel and Carol were weak every time I heard them, thanks for the hard work you two.
Sunday was VERY quiet and Qs were isolated through out the day. My total is the second best Jan contest in the last 8 years.
Thanks to all that were "radio active" and a HUGE thanks to the rovers!!
