The ARRL 10 GHz and Above Contest 2014 Results article is posted on the ARRL website at http://www.arrl.org/contest-results-articles . A tip of the hat to Bruce, W9FZ, for a excellent write-up. One should note that QST provides us with but a single page of coverage for this event while Bruce (and other VHF+ contest editors) go the extra mile (OK, km) and provide extended coverage with extended online write-ups. If you get an opportunity, please pass on your "thanks" to these authors who dedicate their time post-contest.
In the 10 GHz Only category WB0LJC led all 72 operators to place 1st for the 4th consecutive year. Gary's score of 52,586 was based on a leading number of 225 QSOs. In 2nd place was W0ZQ with a score of 43,928 (180 Q's), 4th place was K0CQ with a score of 42,051 (187 Q's), 6th place was N0KP with a score of 35,231 (150 Q's), while W9FZ placed 8th with a score of 31,276. In the 10 GHz and Up category, K9PW place 2nd with a score of 36,642 based on 169 Q's.
As we all (somewhat painfully) remember, conditions were never that good for us on either contest weekend so its no surprise that the Best DX categories were dominated by others outside of our area. On 10 GHz, Best DX was 725 km by W6QWN, on 24 GHz it was 257 km by W3RWN, and on 47 GHz it was 102 km by W1EX.
Congratulations to all who participated. Next years event is August 15-16 and September 19-20.
73, Jon
W0ZQ
