The best part of the UHF Contest: getting to drive home in the
afternoon instead of at midnight! Pretty average conditions from west
central Wisconsin with no major enhancement noted. Contacts recovered
from the poor numbers of last year, and grids were down just slightly:
222 53 22
432 59 25
902 29 16
1.2 33 15
Total 174 78 55,244
The new rules were definitely a help; I contacted several stations that
I probably would not have found were it not for spotting. AC0RA/R would
spot his arrival in a new grid and I could usually find and work him
quickly (48 of a possible 52 contacts, missing on 902/1296 twice).
Thanks to Wyatt and also Mel & Carol for helping to keep me busy, along
with contacts from W0ZQ/R, N0EDV/R, KF8QL/R and AE0EE/R. Caught NT0V on
222 & 432 (423 miles), but got slightly better DX to K0TPP on 222 in
EM48 (440mi) and K9MRI on 432 in EN70 (436mi). Best on 902 & 1296 was
Wyatt in EN51 at 268mi. Ran with a few guys further out that I found on
ON4KST, but no luck.
Thanks to everyone who got on!
