Hello,
Been emailing with a fellow in St. Paul who is trying to
get started on 2m SSB. Let him know about NLRS in
case he wants to pursue it.
This led me to visiting the NLRS website. I see a few
net items that could use updating. Not sure who does this
on the NLRS website, so figured I'd update the reflector.
The outdated info is as follows:
1) KA0KYZ in EN33 is *not* on 144.230 at 9pm on
Wed. nights. Terry was part of our widespread Wed.
crew for about a year, but hasn't been on in at least
2-3 years now. That can be deleted.
2) K8TQK in EM89je calls his Monday net on 144.252,
not 144.250. Bob has a fat birdie right on his 144.250.
This net is alive and well, but obviously, the bulk of the
activity is far away from NLRS-land. But if anyone is
going to reach MN from EM89, it is definitely K8TQK.
He regularly works WB9LYH in EN54, for instance,
with flat bands over a 450-mile path.
3) The reference to KC9BQA as an alternate net
control for the Wed. 144.240 net no longer applies.
I am selling things off and no longer have 2m gear.
Posts dated Mar 15th, 2014 at kc9bqa.com explain
my decision and a post dated June 27th, 2014 at
kc9bqa.com has the latest on my towers/rotors/yagis/
feedline for sale. Direct inquires are welcome, as well.
4) The WB9LYH 144.240 Wed. net now starts at
8pm central, 52 weeks a year. Feedback from our
check-ins leaned toward keeping it the same year-round.
THANKS, to whomever updates this info.
AS ALWAYS, WANT NLRS'ers TO REMEMBER:
WB9LYH calls the 144.240 Wed. net from EN54cl
(near WI Rapids) at 8pm central, 52 weeks a year now.
Net reports are posted every week (going back to 2009)
at kc9bqa.com.
NLRS'ers and *all* VHF'ers are always welcome to
say hello on 144.240 on Wed. nights. WB9LYH tends
to look W and NW about 8:30-8:50pm, give or take.
As I periodically mention here, visit kc9bqa.com for
frequent updates on contests, nets and activity nights
surrounding the Upper Midwest and Great Lakes, all
7 nights of the week. Posts dated Oct 13, 15 and 17th
*2013* are a great reference for those nets/activity nights.
Thanks, 73,
Todd KC9BQA
