Anyone interested is welcome to go over to my son's house after breakfast
and see his new solar installation. His 10kw just went on the grid in the
past week. If you have good sun exposure, solar is definitely worth
looking into. Joe got into the limited Xcel incentive program this year,
and also gets an incentive for made-in-Minnesota panels. The project
should pay off in 4 years.
Joe's generation and consumption can be monitored at this link:

The green line is power generated, the red line power consumed. Yesterday
ramped up beautifully, and then you see the jagged graph as clouds pass
over in the afternoon! The consumption monitor is cool also, you can
observe things like the frig and furnace click on periodically.
Joe's house is 2.5 miles from breakfast at:
2824 Aglen St, 55113
We can look in the meter boxes and see how the monitoring is done. He also
has an easy low-slope roof for those who would like to look at the panels.
We can perhaps lift one up and get a look at the inverters underneath.
I would figure on heading out from Old Country Buffet about 10am. We
should remind people each month that OCB does not require that you purchase
breakfast to join the group!
I will try to get a web page together with pictures for those too distant
to make breakfast. And if you're really interested but can't make it this
Saturday, we can arrange a look at another time.
