As usual, it seemed I ended up spending more time trying to fix
equipment than operating, so once again my contest score suffered.
Unfortunately this time my stalwart band, 2M, decided to give me grief.
So I ended up running my FT-736 barefoot on that band. In addition, my
3456 equipment was having TX problems. I had spent the better part of a
week mast mounting preamps for 2304 & 3456 and I do have to say that I
was able to hear better on both bands, but somewhere along the way I
apparently broke something on the TX side as neither W0GHZ or W1AW/0
(W0ZQ) could hear me. I did manage to work both on the other 7 bands
however. I also never managed to work K2DRH - the one time I heard him
on 2M I couldn't get his attention without the KW.

On a positive note I was VERY happy with my 6m LDMOS KW amplifier. It
performed quite nicely and it ran reasonably cool, so if money and time
permit I hope to build more of these for some of the other bands.

My final score outcome was as follows:

6M: 118 x 55
2M: 16 x 7
222: 7 x 4
432: 11 x 4
902: 3 x 2
1.2: 3 x 2
2.3: 2 x 1

Total: 162 Q (196 QSO pts.) x 75 grids = 14, 7000 points

This is one of the worst showings ever for me in a June contest, but
flat conditions, bad weather and equipment failures didn't help. I need
to find time to dig into the problem areas and see if I can get them
resolved. Hopefully I can spend more time on some of the other bands
next contest.

Charlie, N0AKC
