Hello > I wanted to share my results this weekend - I participated in the CQ VHF contest as well as participating in the DUBUS 144 EME Digital Championship also . For the CQ Vhf contest on 144 only I ended up with 31 QSOs X 21 grids = 1302 points and for the DUBUS 144 EME contest , I ended up with 29 QSOs X 28 Multipliers ( unique callsign prefixes ) = 812 points . It was a lot of fun but with 2 contests occurring at opposite ends of the day , I severely suffered from the lack of sleep that I am used to which caused me to 'throw in the towel' early on Sunday AM ..... The highlights were working another single yagi station off the moon. The lowlight was melting holes in the balun - box that cushcraft is known for (rated at 2kw - no duty cycle rating at that power level though !!! ) ..... ANYONE HAVE A SPARE ??? Equipment used here was the TS2000X , GS35 cavity amp @ 1.5kw and M2 2M12 for tropo and a BORROWED cc 17B2 with full elevation for EME (
homebrew mount - PICS AVAILABLE IF ANYONE WANTS TO CHECK IT OUT ) ) ...... I also am running a 2 stage homebrew preamp system for both antenna systems .
I should be able to participate in the UHF contest on a limited basis as I will have to reconfigure the farm for that ... Probably 1296 only or add limited 432 also - we'll see ..... 73s , Ron Bergantzel KA0RYT
PS- If you have a used balun box from a 13b2 or a 17b2 , LETS TALK !!
