John W0JT/R and I were out into central TX and southern OK for the two day
contest. Here's a brief summary or our results.

We had GREAT weather for the 2nd year in a row. It was even good while we
assembled our rover stations during the preceding week. John and I chose to
rove together during this 8 grid route. This allowed us to come to the aid
of each other when we had problems and emit more RF thereby attracting more
stations. It was encouraging to see a better turnout of RMG stations on
Sunday while the NTMS stations were relatively rare compared to last
January. Thanks to Al, W5LUA for the opportunity to work the dish bands on
5.7 and 10 GHz from several locations and Ben, NO5K for 10 GHz.
We were pleased to hear many stations both calling and working us on our
"running" frequency "up 10" on 144.21 MHz. This greatly freed up the
calling frequency. Greg, K5GJ/Rover was also out and about on Sunday.
Unfortunately 6 meters didn't open up to the northland!
We still have a lot of improvements to make so, you'll be hearing more from
the Hill Country Rovers in the future.
