John (W0JT/rover) and I (K0MHC/rover) will be hitting the trail again during
the January VHF Contest this weekend. <http://www.arrl.org/january-vhf>

John and I will both be running 6, 2, 1.25 and 0.7 meters with good power
and upgraded antennas but of course it's "location, location, location that
really matters when roving. We'll be operating "stop and shoot" as both of
us are solo rovers.

I'll also be running 5.7 & 10 GHz but, only from selected, GOOD locations
(not from all grids).

Our overall route will be the same (12 grids) as last year.

But, with two stops (late Saturday and early Sunday) at the I35 scenic
outlook north of Ardmore, OK. In EM14kj.

We'll be starting at 1 PM CST (1900 UTC) Saturday from the Lampasas, TX
airport location in EM01vc.

The remaining schedule is "approximate" so please give us a little slack for
unanticipated situations.

1 PM - EM01vc

3 PM - EM02XA

5 PM - EM03WE

7 PM - EM04WC

9 PM - EM14KJ - I35 scenic outlook em14kj (for the 1st time)

On Sunday we'll be starting at 7 AM from the I35 scenic outlook EM14kj (for
the 2nd time)

7 AM - EM14KJ

10 AM - EM13

1 PM - EM12

3 PM - EM11

5 PM - EM10

7 PM - EL19

8 PM - EL09

9 PM - EM00 back in Kerrville, TX

10 PM - the fat lady sings

Remember that these times and locations are our best guess based on last
year's log.

Please look for us and ALSO listen for the other weak signal stations that
may be calling/working us as "activity breeds activity"!

Our running frequency on 2 meters is 144.210 MHz. Notice that this is "up 10
KHz" from the calling frequency on 144.200 MHz. I know that most of you have
VFOs so please us them to avoid an endless pileup on the calling frequency.

We'll also be running on these frequencies when we QSY up/down the bands:

50.145

222.110

432.110

For those of you with the dish bands I'll be on 5,760.1 MHz and 10,386.1 MHz
but, please coordinate from one of the "low" bands. I'll need to setup my
tripod so, this will take additional time in the grid.

We'll also keep an ear out for our brethren from up north if and when 6
meters opens up again during the contest as it did last year.

Good luck to all. Get on the air, make some (RF) noise and listen for the
weak ones!

73, Jim, K0MHC/rover & John, W0JT/rover

Kerrville and San Antonio, TX
