Hello NLRS land -

As we all know by now W1AW/0 is coming to Minnesota as a part of the year long ARRL Centennial QSO Party. A full description of this fun operating can be read at http://www.arrl.org/centennial-qso-party . The Minnesota Wireless Association and Northern Lights Radio Society are playing host to W1AW/0 for the week of Wednesday Jan 29, 0000 UTC to Tuesday Feb 4, 2359 UTC then again for a second week of Wednesday June 11, 0000 UTC to Tuesday June 17, 2359 UTC. Additional hosting information and scheduling sheets can be found on the MWA website at http://w0aa.org/index.php/component/content/article/20-uncategorised/65-arrl-centenial-qso-party or, ask me.

Anyone located in the state of Minnesota is eligible to use W1AW/0 during this time period. The only requirement is that you need to coordinate its usage with Bill, AC0W on HF and myself for VHF+. You also need to operate within the constraints of your current license and maintain an electronic log to submit to Bill or me when you are done.

We already have some VHF+ users signed up for satellite (Jan 29 to Feb 4) and for terrestrial mode usage (Feb 1 and 2). The other terrestrial mode dates are still open as is usage on EME. I would love to see some of our EMEers use W1AW/0 during this fun opearting event, all we need is some volunteers. Again, this is a operating event aimed at fun.

The second week of its usage aligns with the June VHF contest. This is a unique opportunity to use W1AW/0 to maximize the number of contacts on as many bands as possible by as many MN ops as possible. Ideally, it sure would be fun to see a grid expedition, or perhaps a multiop, step forward to use the call sign for the June VHF event. If nothing develops this way then we may end up farming W1AW/0 out for portions of the contest to different users, tbd.

The important part for now is that I need to know if YOU are interested in using W1AW/0. I am especially interested in EMEers and any detailed plans for the June VHF contest that look to maximize the number of contacts on multiple bands; single op or multi-op. Please drop me an email direct if you are interested.

73, Jon
W0ZQ
