   Happy New Year to NLRS'ers,

Want to bring 2 items to everyone's attention.

   1) ARRL Jan VHF Contest is Jan 18-19. Starts @1pm
central on Sat., Jan. 18th and runs until 10pm on Jan. 19th.

   2) The Wed. 144.240 net called by WB9LYH near
WI Rapids (EN54cl) is ON again tonight, after a 2-week
holiday break.
Winter start time is 7pm central. WB9LYH's antenna
pattern from Central WI is first NE, then E, SE, S, SW,
W, NW and N over the next hour or so. The Wed. net is
informal and all VHF'ers are welcome. Goal is to increase
activity on 2m SSB. Been doing this since June 2008.

There might be some enhancement tonight as warmer
air aloft is trying to move in. We are always looking for
outstate MN, Dakotas and VE-3/4 stations to help us
push the propagation limits. WB9LYH has stacked long
yagis and 500 watts from a ridgetop QTH. He easily
gets out 300-400 miles. Mark tends to turn W and NW
about 7:30-40 until 8pm.
Start 2014 off right and tune into 144.240 tonight.

More info is always available at kc9bqa.com.
