Ron -
If you are a ARRL member you can see how your score was adjusted. Go to the ARRL contest Log-Checking Reports website at http://www.arrl.org/contest-log-checking-reports . You can only see your own ..... I can't see yours for you. If you are not an ARRL member you may not have access.
The September VHF Contest Log Checking Reports (LCR) are now posted as I can see mine. In my case my score was reduced from a claimed score of 4736 to 4176, or a fairly steep 11.8% reduction. It seems that in VHF+ contests that scores are more sensitive to logging errors than are HF contests .... perhaps this is in part to the scoring method. According to my LCR I had three Q's in my log that the other station(s) did not. These are "Not In Log" or NIL. Its not clear as to if this was my mistake by logging them when I really didn't complete the Q or if they failed to log me as a proper QSO. It did cause me to loose one grid-multiplier plus those three Q's where one was a 1 point Q, one was a 2 point Q and the third was a 4 point Q, or 7 points total. So I was dinged 7 QSO points and one multiplier. In addition I do not know if the League is adds a penalty for any NILs, I believe that they do for HF contests. As you can see NILs are painful with respect to ones contest score so both stations need to be mindful of accurate logging.
Regarding the funny line scores, those line scores are determined after this log checking and removing NILs so in the end its possible that they "look" funny as you say. They are not the claimed number, they are "adjusted" during log checking and that may lead to funny looking data.
Looking forward to working you on those new bands !
73, Jon

Subject: Re: ARRL September VHF Results - Query de KA0RYT
Hello !! Thanks for letting us know that the ARRL had released the results .....
fter some initial reading of the article as well as the line by line scores it
rings to thought a few questions that I have for the NLRS group........ First
what mistakes or errors did I do to get my score changed ?? It went from 102
SOs X 52 Multipliers [with 85 X 39 on 144] to 96 QSOs X 49 Multipliers [ with
1 X 37 on 144 ] ( as calculated by RoverLog here ) ???? Also , how do contest
ntries get more Multipliers than QSOs ???? Just look at the Line scores -
articularly N0JK , KM4ID , KF6CVA , KA3KSP , and KB0KBJ ...... Now , I
ealise that my score could have been affected by probable accidental log entry
rrors on my part and/or accidental or intentional log entry errors on others'
art , but how do you get more Multipliers without having a QSO with them ??
ood for thought - Anyway , I have been busy working on upping the ERP from the
arm as well as
adding another band and building extra LNAs for the new band as we speak . 73s
