I think its a common transformer with an Eico label. Looking at the
parts list and schematic it has a 120 volt secondary, uses a rectifier
rated at 35 ma. Probably a selenium which could be the problem and
should be replace with a 1N4004 for safety. The more common 1N4007 won't
hurt. Selenium smoke isn't very healthy. The transformer has 900 ma of
load at 6.3 volts.
Look for a vacuum tube UHF converter for a similar transformer.
Look for a Stancor PA8421. >

These days a Hammond 262D6 or 262E6 from Mouser or Digi-Key looks to be
the right ratings. You will have to check for physical fit.

I've not yet che3cked my transformer shelves, but there is a good chance
you can find a suitable transformer at one of the twin cities surplus
stores, like ABC or Axman but you will have to identify it on your own.
The similar heathkit VTVMs and low power test equipment like an SG-8 may
have a similar if not identical transformer.
