As you know, the antenna range at Aurora '13 was cancelled due to
the (bad) weather.
An alternate date of 15 June (about the only choice) was selected
for a "make-up" session. Since this is also the date for the
June Breakfast, the discussion was to:
1) SKIP Breakfast and start the antenna range activity at 0900,
with a BYO picnic afterward, OR
2) GO to Breakfast and start the range afterwards, say 1100.
I asked for input from the members and got a VERY limited
response. However, all those who did respond indicated they'd
rather start at 0900 and have a picnic afterward. (Does anybody
want to "organize" the picnic ? Basically, see if someone will
bring a gas grill for cooking hot dogs, etc.)
SO... the antenna range will start at 0900, 15 June in Mounds
Park, St. Paul. The area will be along Mounds Boulevard,
opposite E Wilshire Pl. This is down the hill (west) of the Areo
Beacon if you're familar with the area, but not the street names.
With the "spring" weather this year, I think I should add
"depending on the weather." If it rained Friday-Saturday over
night or is raining Saturday morning, NO-GO. If it rained during
the day Friday but cleared up and dried out, we'll try to make it
work.
The limited response as to when to start has gotten me thinking
that there isn't too much interest in the antenna range activity
any more. If this is the case, I'd like to know just what bands
we should be testing, and how many antennas for those bands
there will be. (Frankly, I don't what to drag more stuff up the
basement stairs than I have to.)
THEREFORE, send me an e-mail ON or BEFORE Monday, 10 June
indicating:
WHAT band(s) you will be bringing antennas for testing, AND
HOW MANY antennas for each band.
I'm not going bring testing stuff for bands in which there is no
interest.
If you don't e-mail me, and then bring stuff, you may find
yourself at the range with antennas that can't be tested 'cause I
didn't bring the proper equipment.
Comments welcome as usual.
