[NLRS] 6m becaon frequency

Thanks to all who responded on this. I had two interesting comments that
I wanted to comment on...

The first suggested that by picking a frequency that was not in use I was
contributing to clutter on the beacon band and that, to avoid that, and
because propagation is directional, I should pick a frequency already in use
but elsewhere. I am having trouble digesting that one especially
considering I am at the bounce point of North West to North East double hop
propagation. I am thinking if I went on a frequency already in use the
folks from the East coast would bring the tar and the west would bring the
feathers. It may be the other way around but I do not thing that is a good
idea.

The second suggestion I had was to not bother with a beacon because they are
of no use. I disagree with that as I use them constantly both to determine
if there is propagation into an area and to determine where the E clouds are
to determine where I might have propagation to. In addition in the
northern latitudes where we are blessed with Au the beacons are the first
thing I look at to see if there is a opening.

I know this list is not complete but I want to personally thank VE4ARM,
VE4VHF, K0KP ,K0GUV, W9JN, K9MU, N8PUM and all the rest of the folks and
groups who go through the time, energy and expense to keep their beacons on
the air!! Much appreciated!!

Subject: [NLRS] 6m becaon frequency

I am in the process of procuring a radio for a 6m beacon that would be
operated from EN07ii. Power would be 5w and antenna would be a loop
probably about 15 feet up on a tower that is itself about 600 ft above
average terrain.

Looking over the list of 6m beacons 50.071.5 seems remarkably free of listed
beacons. Does anyone know of one on that frequency?

Thanks!
