Transmitting broadband white noise is not unique to the Flex. Many HF
radios are known to do that. Comes from generating SSB or CW at the
level of a fraction of a volt, filtering it down to SSB bandwidth, then
running it through 100 dB of broadband gain with two or three mixers
adding in more then their share of noise and finally maybe band limiting
with ham band side band pass filters at the 0 dBm level before the final
burst of gain to +50 dBm with that section of the transmitter flat from
1.6 to 57 MHz. The band limiting filters tend to not be a part of rigs
that easily convert to continuous coverage, so there's more than 100 dB
gain from signal generation to antenna with maybe a low pass filter, no
bandpass filtering. And when over driven the splattering is not limited
in bandwidth either.

It has recently been discovered that a white noise is being transmitted below the Flex Radio's actual xmit freq ( check Moon Net archives for the article ). Being that I sometimes run QRO , I do not want any white noise being transmitted here ..... Just a FYI !!! 73, Ron KA0RYT P.S Who is going to be on next Monday Night for the 2M Sprint ???
