I found a few years ago on a strong aurora that with a 5wl yagi on 2m
that I could swing it south of the peak and find signals at greater
distances, like Connecticut which I worked, but when asked what I had
worked so someone could plot the strength of the auroral reflector I
didn't supply data because I was definitely not peaked on the strongest
reflector.

I have the 13elem EME yagi in the yard at 12 ft ... AU .. up, so I went out and put in 7deg of elevation, swung it to the NE (30deg) and took a listen.

The house is in the way for headings north of 30deg. The signals peaked at about 30deg due to either the house or the AU path. I must manually set elevation from the yard and only 7deg was used.
