Subject: Rochester Amateur Radio Club 2013 VHF Field Day plans
Mel, KC0P will captain the VHF, UHF, SHF position south
of Rochester at Gamehaven Scout Camp, EN33SW a public
place. 5499 County Rd 1 SE. Google Maps shows the entrence
as 43.949 -92.4188.
Modes: We will have three stations; CW1, CW2, and Phone.
If we have only 2 hours or less downtime due to lightning
at this hilltop location, we would expect following results:
CW1 750 Q, CW2 450 Q, Phone 600 Q, GOTA 120 Q, VHF 40 to 150 Q
depends on 6m Es. We used to use CW2 as combination CW & Digital
but would only get 60 Q on RTTY and 10 Q on PSK31. RTTY is more
robust in heavy QRM, PSK31 is good on quiet days, Not FD. Will
use FLDIGI & FT857D to copy FD Buellitin on Friday nite.
We should have Dipole/100w on 50.170 SSB & CW
Yagis on 144, 222, 432, 902, 1296 SSB & CW
32 dbI dish & 2w on 10,368.1 MHz SSB & CW for demo to WB0LJC
Also will have Satellite setup and lots of Ipods for aiming.
Had contacts to Cedar Rapids to south and Grand Rapids to
north with no enhancements in June VHF with this setup. With
a six meter opening during FD should be great fun. If no
opening will keep banging away on 144.190 and 144.200 to try
to get something started. Go NLRS demonstrations.
