Hello NLRS -
The Minnesota QSO Party will be held Saturday, Feb 2, from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm on HF through VHF. This is a really fun operating event where Minnesota stations work the World and the World works Minnesota stations. The contest exchange is very simple. For stations located in Minnesota you send your name and your Minnesota county. For stations located outside of Minnesota, they send their name and their State/Province. For example I would call "CQ CQ the Minnesota QSO Party from Minnesota, W0ZQ". If W4XXX responses I would then send "Jon in Dakota County" and he would send back to me "Tom in Georgia". Pretty simple.
Full rules are at http://w0aa.org/index.php/mn-qso-party . This wesite also includes a downloadable software logging program, a downloadable paper log, and a really interesting "Activity Map"; try clicking on the different counties to see who will be activating it. If you plan to be active in this fun event you can appear on this map too by sending your call, your county, and what modes you may be on (CW, phone, both) to Pat, K0PC, at k0pc at arrl.net . The web site also has a list of planned mobile activity .... check that out too. If you have any questions, just ask.
I hope to hear a lot of NLRS members on for this really fun event. Last year the NLRS placed 4th in the club category with five logs. Make sure to indicate NLRS as your club when you send in a log.
PS: The W0AUS NLRS club call is available if someone wants to use it. If so, drop me an email direct.
73, Jon
W0ZQ
