I jump into this discussion with a little trepidation, because I've so
totally dropped off the map radio-wise recently. We have faced a few
family situations that required my attention and that has sidelined amateur
radio. But I am happy to say that we have mostly worked through those and
the horizon for radio work is opening up again.
KC9JTL and I got on the air to make several Qs apiece for this contest.
Our antenna situation has deteriorated since I was more active and I wasn't
too keen to try and correct things in the sub-zero temps. It was an
extremely modest effort, but hopefully something is better than nothing.
Still, it was nice to connect with a few hams.
I agree with what KC9BQA said in his own summary--it'll be the rovers that
really make these contests fun, since they make for fresh activity on a
regular basis throughout. It was great to work K9WKW/R for the first time
and I hope we'll hear him in there again!
I'm hopeful that I can get back on the road as well this year. You are a
great bunch of guys, this is a great hobby. Here's to the new rules and
fresh opportunities in 2013!
73,
David W9HQ
