teve VE7SL reports that, "After building similar stations over the past few
onths, myself and Markus VE7CA completed our first lightwave contact on 655 nm
esterday evening just shortly after sunset. Both systems use a single Luxeon
eat-sinked LED (Deep Red)." Both systems used about 1 watt of input power and
nexpensive plastic Fresnel lenses. BPW32 lensless PIN diodes were used as the
etectors. The path was about 34 miles across the Georgia Straight between West
ancouver and Mayne Island. "All in all, great fun!" says Steve - VHF+
