GM NLRS,
Want to bring two things to your attention.
1) As usual, the long-range Wed. nets are ON tonight.
Been doing these nets since June 2008. Goal is to make
more activity happen on the air. All are welcome, there
is no defined territory or specific format. Another goal is
to push propagation limits, so we appreciate DX listening
along and checking in, when band conditions allow.
Our net control is WB9LYH on 144.240 at 8pm from
EN54cl, or basically Wisconsin Rapids, right in the middle
of the state.
Mark's pattern is to first look into the eastern time zone,
or go NE, E, SE, S, SW, W and NW at the end. NLRS'ers
probably won't hear much until at least 8:30-8:40.
WB9LYH has stacked 17B2's and 500w from a ridgetop
QTH. He regularly makes contacts out 400+ miles to the
east and south. Check-ins from the NW have included
K0SIX, W0ANH and VE3KRP. We'd like to know how
well Mark can get out to outstate MN, VE-4, ND and SD,
plus adjacent portions of IA and NE.
All NLRS'ers are welcome to our Wed. nets, every week.
You can always get more info, plus read the weekly net report
that I post on Thursdays, at kc9bqa.com.
If you are able to spread the word to VHF'ers who might
not read the NLRS email reflector, we'd appreciate it. A lot
of times, V/UHF'ers don't know all their options.
Speaking of getting on the air and looking around...
Item #2 is) Fall VHF/UHF Sprints are starting next Monday,
Sept. 17, from 7-11pm. 222 will be Tues., Sept 25; 432 on
Wed., Oct 3rd and uWaves on Sat. *morning* Sept 29th.
The Sprints schedule is here: http://kc9bqa.com/?p=6218
I've long thought the sprints are a good chance for newer
contesters and rovers to get their feet wet. Slower pace, no
band-switching and only a 4-hour time commitment. Spread
the word to veteran and potential V/UHF'ers in your area.
Thanks for your time, 73,
Todd KC9BQA EN63ao 40 N of Milwaukee
