Donn, Gary;
It's the first I have heard of this, but I haven't paid attention to all the traffic here.
It could be that the version 7 JRE *finally* removed some of Sun's APIs that were used for the FTP connection. If so, you'll need to figure out how to run it with Java 6 or earlier until the software can be updated....it's been about 7 years or so, I think. I imagine this has always been a problem for java branches like IcedTea on Linux and probably OSX since Apple started rolling their own java implementation.
In the meantime, you might google around for how to specifically invoke the jar file with the path to the version 6 installation. If the v. 6 JRE is installed, you might be able to invoke it specifically from the command line with something like this:
"C:\Program Files\[whereever java6 is]\bin\javaw" rainscatter.jar
...or whatever the name of the 1.56b jar file is. If you search your computer for javaw.exe you can probably see the paths. That's not the best solution, but the software was written by an amateur (little 'a') and could use some fixing up. I'll try to fire it up tomorrow on a new PC and see if I can at least diagnose the problem.

I mentioned this to you and others a month or more ago.
Unfortunately I have not been able to make it work on this computer.
Everything works on the laptop which may have an older version of
Java.
Hope someone is able to find a fix.
