[NLRS] Question re: Rainscatter1.56b

I recently (13 Jun 12) had to update the Java run-time environment to jre7 to 
make my browser work.  THAT'S working fine, but I found out tonight that 
Rainscatter 1.56b does NOT work now.  The radar map comes up with no problem, 
but it will not pull storm data.  There appears to be no internet activity when 
the "Update Storms" is selected.  (Update Map DOES indicate net activity on the 
DSL modem.)

JRE6 (dated 11/12/2010) is still on my machine, but I can't make RS recognize 
it.

Anyone else seen this problem, and if so, how did you fix it ?
