My and Gary's (W0GHZ) skeds were unusual this morning. At 9am CST, 10GHz signals were 20db above the noise enhanced by snowscatter (even though the radar indicated heavy snow in my area, none was/has fallen). We made no effort to optimize the path with heading or elevation changes. The enhancement was about 8-12db above what is considered "normal". We run 3 bands for each sked and 1296 was next. On 1296 Gary's CW was 50-52db above the noise .. over S9 on SSB and full quieting on FM even. WOW .. 902 was 50db above the noise. as well. These signal levels were 20db-30db above what we consider to be "good normal" conditions.
MSP Skew plots support the observation. Minor enhancement is observed on the APRS plots between us. I am however not hearing the ZQ beacon on 222.
No other bands were checked since breakfast was "on the table". Gary runs about 3db more power on 902 than 1296, so 1296 MAY have had better enhancement. There are antenna gain and receive sensitivity variables involved too of course.
