Jon, thanks for the reminder. I booked my room today as Ragbrai is a HUGE
deal and will soak up ALL the rooms anywhere around Cedar Rapids area making
it almost impossible for the late deciders. A word to the wise, book NOW!

Subject: [NLRS] Attention: Important Central States Registration Info

Hello NLRS land

The Central States VHF Society conference will be held in Cedar Rapids, IA,
on July 26 through the 28. I strongly encourage all NLRS members to
attend. If you have not been to a major weak signal VHF conference, this is
the one you need to see. NLRS-land is within easy driving distance of Cedar
Rapids. I do plan on attending and I already know of many other NLRS
members who plan to attend as well.

So here is the "attention" part of my message. It appears that Cedar
Rapids will be hosting RAGBRAI, a major bicycle ride across IA, on Thursday
night. There is an expectation that hotels in the Cedar Rapids area will be
sold out that night. The conference has reserved a block of rooms at the
conference hotel, The Carion Hotel & Convention Center, for $93 a night. If
you are planning to attend Central States, NOW, repeat, NOW, is the time to
call and to reserve your hotel room for a Thursday night arrival and a
Sunday morning departure. Reservations are by phone only and mention that
your reservation is for the CSVHFS Conference to receive the discounted
price.

Full info with phone numbers is at
http://www.csvhfs.org/2012conference/lodging.html

One more word. In order to put on such a conference, the Society works with
the hotel to pledge (contractually) minimum hotel rooms. By staying at the
conference hotel you, yes YOU, help to the conference to secure the
hospitality suite and other important give-and-take relationships between
the hotel and the conference. In summary, support the conference by staying
at the hotel.

73, Jon
