Interesting. I set up on a hill in EN60af hoping to make a few QSO's on the
microwave bands. I got started about 6:30 AM CDT. I tuned around on 144 MHz
and swung the beam in all directions and heard nothing except a couple
beacons.

I listened for the St. Louis beacon on 10368.900 in EM48sq and heard
nothing. I tried to work AF4JF and another station in St. Louis on 10 GHz
with no luck. I tried to raise K4TO and K8TQK and heard nothing and got no
response. I finally worked a station on 144.200 near Peoria, IL who was
driving a truck.

Not a good morning.

I did hear a new beacon I hadn't heard before. It was N9SS/B on 144.275 in
EN50es. It evidently decreases its power to 25 mW for a bit, then QSY's to
432 MHz, then comes up again on 144 MHz.
