For your long range calendars, mark down July 26-28, 2012, for the Central States VHF Society conference being held in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Cedar Rapids is an easy drive from NLRS-land.  The http://www.csvhfs.org/2012conference/index.html website has already posted initial information.
