For a first Sprint attempt in the CoROVERolla and using ONLY the
KB6KQ Omnidirectional 2 m Loop antenna with Yaesu FT-100D
Transceiver and TE Systems 1412G Amp., I thought it went quite
well.
I started in EN62 and made 25 Qs x 13 Grid Locators in about 40
minutes. North to EN54, East to EN82, Southeast to EN70, South
to EM68 and West to EN41 and quite a few closer in.
EN52 was next, partially while mobile, 15 Qs x 8 Locators
(longest path up to EN54) in about 30 minutes.
EN51 followed, 14 Qs x 7 Locators (longest path again up to
EN54) in about 20 minutes.
My 4th Grid Stop was EN61, netting 13 Qs x 5 Locators in about
25 minutes (only "local" Grids worked from EN61).
I went back to EN62 at the end and made 4 additional Qs over
about 15 minutes there, TWO of which were new Locators
(including one farther to the Southeast than EN70, to EM89)
bringing the total for EN62 29 Qs and 15 Mults.
Final claimed rover score is 718 (435 + 120 + 98 + 65).
SEVERAL (8?) stations caught me at all four of the Grids I
visited. Made 1 QSO Rover-to-Rover with W9FZ/R.
Thanks to ALL who were on but especially to those who did the
'heavy lifting' with their antennas to hear my non-directive
(a.k.a. "weak") signal and to the Southeast VHF Society for
their continued sponsorship of the Fall Sprints.
Until next Tuesday for the 222 MHz Fall Sprint, 73, JK
