Hello NLRS land

The June VHF contest results are on the ARRL's website. Rick, K1DS, has done another outstanding job on the writeup for this fun mid-summer event. Rick reports that there were a total of 1,233 logs submitted this year, up about 2% from the previous year. Of these 716 were for the popular SOLP category.

A review of the results shows that the NLRS finished in 6th place overall in the Medium category based on logs. This year there were 33 clubs in this category. Without going back to look at previous years, it seems to me we are seeing a lot more clubs submitting scores .... perhaps its all those new radios that include 6m. The Badger Contesters finished in 15th, MWA in 20th, and CVVHFS finished in 4th place in the Local category.

Within the club, WA0VPJ/R with teamate AI0Z placed 4th in the nation in the Limited Rover category, nice job guys! The dynamic dual of KC0P/R & N0HZO/R finished 5th and 6th respectively in the Unlimited Rover category. Joining this group of top national finishers is K0SIX, 7th place nationally in SOLP, N0HJZ, 10th place nationally also in SOLP, and W0UC, 8th place in SOHP. Rich, N0HJZ, had 741 Q's by 194 grids on 6m to Vince, K0SIX, 569 Q's by 207 grids, but Vince put the peddle to the metal on 2, 222 and 432 to pull past Rich into 7th place overall. N0HJZ's 741 Q's on 6m was the 6th highest total on that band in the SOLP class .... not too shabby for a FT100 into a 5 element yagi temporarily mounted to his back yard deck. Paul, W0UC made 866 Q's by 256 grids on 6m, as well as placing well on the higher bands.

Congratulations to the NLRS and its club members for a great showing.

73, Jon
W0ZQ
