Man is the feedline COLD ..The rotators are SLOW... ice is on the yagis (from Dec 30 yet) .. the electrons seem lazy too .... Snow scatter still works on 10Ghz though :-)
Aurora 2011 is not all that far away, The date is Saturday, May 14 and the location is once again the First Lutheran Church in White Bear Lake. Many thanks to Curt Peterson, KC0FQZ, assisting in the location once again. I am hopeful that the snow will be gone, at least from MSP by then. EVERY day, Pat (my bride) states " I am so tired of shoveling and sweeping this snow". The OM and the snow blower have sure been busy busy too.
I have been requested to be your technical chairman once again. I hope that I can improve upon my performance for the last two years. The smooth polished performance of my predecessors can not be matched my this old guy. The first year of getting presentations was no biggie, I had a number of people and topics in mind and they did the rest. The second year was similar.
The NLRS has been accused of being a "contest club" and "10Ghz club" etc. Given the activity level on the VHF/UHF/Microwave bands NOW, it seems that that is where the activity has gone. The presentations the last two years I have tried to focus on what some are doing during the non contest (10Ghz and VHF/UHF) period, but I'm open.
QUESTION:::: Are there topics that are of interest to you (and would be of interest to others) that I should try to find presenters for?? I AM LOOKING for TOPICs as well as presenters.
Recalling from last Aurora ... it seemed that there were several "offers for presentations" for this year already. This from memory, so if I missed you.. please remind me.
Paul --- more on test equipment and procedures
Jim --- The multi media effort to attract more weak sig VHF operators
Barry --- update on the new solid state amps for 1296
Jon --- Super 10Ghz tropo opening during the Sept "10Ghz and Above" weekend out of the RRV
If you are willing and/or have a topic for presentation please email me. If you would like to discuss either on the phone, you are welcome to call me at
218-326-5658. If you wish ... send me an email and phone number and I can call you. I have prepayed long distance.
The Web site was l Last updated 2009-08-01 12:30 AM CD. Is there any chance that at least a Aurora 2011 date and location could be posted on the page?
Please get on next weekend, even if only for a few QSOs you will enjoy it, you know you will!
73 and be in touch!! Bill K0AWU (Technical chairman Aurora 2011)
