I applaud the ARRL BOD for changing the maximum power level for the single operator low power (SOLP) catagory for 902 MHz and up from 10 watts to 50 watts!

Thanks to all who helped push this change through!

Subject: [NLRS] ARRL BOD activity relating to VHF

Hello NLRS land

At the January ARRL BOD meeting, minutes of which can be found on the ARRL

website, the following actions took place that pertain to VHFers.

1. The VHF UHF Advisory Committee (VUAC) charter has been extended to July

2012. It was scheduled to sunset this July.

2. The Microwave Band Planning Committee was dissolved.

3. The maximum power level for the single operator low power (SOLP) catagory

for 902 MHz and up was changed from 10 watts to 50 watts. There is no change

to power levels below 902 MHz. In addition, clarification was added that power

output is measured at the final stage of amplification. If interested, see the

VUAC committee report at http://www.arrl.org/committee-reports for the full

VUAC report on this change. Although I could not find the PSC meeting minutes

that indicate that this proposal was approved, it is my understanding that it

has been and we should see the rules updated in the near future.

73, Jon
