[NLRS] Important matter for VHFers

If you go on to Google and search for "H.R. 607", the results for me
turned up a lot of results to ham websites supporting the ARRL's efforts
to fight this bill.

If you search for "H.R. 607 Co-Sponsor", the then the results for me
turned up a lot of results on the efforts of the Public Service Alliance
and the National Sheriff's Association encouraging their members to
write in support of this bill. I wish that the ARRL would partner up
with these two organizations and get their support to remove the
auctioning off of the 70cm band. But that is a different topic for a
different forum.

Since the ARRL announced this threat, this bill has gained at least 5
more co-sponsors. So the fight is not over by any means.

I am merely hoping to make the point that if you are sitting there
thinking that there is no way this is going to pass, consider that this
is election season once again and how many Representatives do you think
want to be viewed as "Anti-Public Service?"

Respectfully,

Austin

Hello NLRS-land

By now all of you should be aware of H.R.607, a new bill in Washington
that proposes that the FCC should auction off the D-block frequencies, a
part of which includes the 432 (440) MHz band. Check out the most recent
QST for more information, or go to the ARRL website at
http://www.arrl.org/hr-607 .

I recommend that all NLRS members write their Representative to voice
their opinion on this subject. If you so wish, a very easy to use tool
has been set up to assist us in this process. Click on
www.kd4pyr.net/hamletter.htm will generate a letter in opposition to
this bill with instructions on how & where to send it.

PS: The 432 Sprint Wednesday, April 27.

73, Jon
