A lot has been happening on 2m this week. The 2m Sprint on
Monday night was great. I had 50Q's in 26 grids. Was very
impressed with the amount of activity, and I know I missed a few
guys. A detailed writeup is at my website, www.kc9bqa.com
Scroll down the "front page" about halfway.
Tonight we have the 2m nets, with 3 different options to choose
from. That info is on the kc9bqa.com front page, halfway down.
If you've been looking for rules and log submission info for the
Spring VHF and Up Sprints, I found that QST yesterday. Where
can you find this info? Yep, kc9bqa.com.
I realize the VHF contest groups aren't very interested in weekly
nets. Net logs over the past 2.5 years clearly show this. No hard
feelings -- contesting is my first love, too. But we want to avoid
a situation where the only time our bands come alive is in a contest.
It's very hard to sell new guys on weak-signal VHF when all they
hear 350 nights a year is white noise or just a few scattered QSO's.
Hence the need for regular, scheduled activity in the form of a net.
I hope some of you readers will support overall activity on a Wed.
night. We always encourage all VHF'ers to get on and enjoy the
signals. Who likes a dead band? Tune to 144.220 and lower on
Wed. nights, call CQ, swing your beams and see who's out there.
Make 2m come alive like all you veterans say it was back in the
good ol' days. :)
We've been working very hard to get new guys on the air, and
it really helps when veterans reach out and say hello.
