all,
Now that the fall VHF/UHF Sprints are over, I want to suggest that you
participate in the ARRL 10 Meter Contest. The contest starts on Friday
December 10th at 6 PM CST, and runs through Sunday December 12th at 5:59 PM
CST.
Operate as few or as many hours as you want ( Max 36 hours). 10 meters is
generally a daytime band for DX (except at the peak of the sunspot cycle) so
you shouldn't lose any sleep with this contest this year.
Categories:
- Mode: Phone only, CW only, or Mixed mode.
- Power: QRP(<=5W), Low Power(<=150W), High Power (>150W).
- Single-operator/unassisted or Multi-operator/assisted-mixed mode
There is not a "Rover" category, but you can operate mobile.

The weather is not too bad right now and you have plenty of time to put up a
10 meter antenna ( if you don't already have one ).
A wire dipole hung below your VHF antenna array would be just fine.
10 meter antennas are easy to make, modify or relatively inexpensive to
purchase.
Options include: vertical/ground plane, dipole, yagi - home made,
commercial, or cut down CB.
Transmission line can be inexpensive coax such as RG-8 ( or maybe RG-58 if
it is not too long ) - no expensive hard line needed.
