Actually its usually a lot more interesting to point NE or late in the
evening NW because at central Iowa latitude, if I point only north I
hear stations I can work direct. If I work my way east along the auroral
curtain I can work much better DX, like Connecticut or west to Colorado
and other states in the pacific NW if they have 2m activity.
