[NLRS] 222 Tuesday on Life Support - response

     Hi Jim,

Hope you had a nice winter.
I know I'm replying to all. I won't persist with it past this
email.
A lot of food for thought in your email Jim. I also got your
comment to kc9bqa.com and I've already replied to several
comments via the website. Anyone can go there to pick up on
the thread.

First off, everyone needs to know that 222 Tuesday is not
a net. Nor was it my idea. K8TQK and K4TO hosted a
Tuesday night net for some years and that faded away. Last
fall, N8WNA (EN82) and KC8QAE (EN91) restarted things.
When I heard about it from them, I said I'd publicize it if that's
what they wanted. So that's how we've gotten here.

222 Tuesday is a general activity night for all USA/VE hams
with 1.25m. There's no single focus, no specific region to target.
The idea is to motivate many 222 users to get on, call CQ, swing
beams and see who all is out there. It is only as good as each
222 user makes it. If the same 4-6 guys get on every week, it
grows stale. Hence the publicity far and wide. If 1000 or
more 222 users are contacted nationwide, doesn't it follow that
perhaps at least 10-20% might get on for at least an hour?

So there's no real need for someone to be an alternate net
control with 222 Tuesday. What there is a strong need for
is to have 222 Tuesdays with guys on from all parts of multiple
states. I've about run out of ideas on how to make this happen.
Like W9FZ says to me sometimes, "Todd, you can't make
people have fun."

It could be that I go about it the wrong way somehow. I
would gladly defer to someone with better "marketing" skills.
The messenger (me) isn't important. The message is what's
important (get on and use our bands more often, and keep
finding ways to attract newcomers to weak-signal V/UHF.)

Jim, what I DO want to pursue with you, is the possibility of
you being a relay station to VE and the Dakotas and W and N
MN when it's convenient on Wed. nights, with the 144.240
long-range net. We have a strong desire to spread the activity
farther and farther away. WB9LYH and I are of the same
mind with pushing the propagation limits on 2m on Wed. nights.

If you (or anyone else) is interested in helping, please email
and we can discuss. Or there's always the IARU Region 2
144-432 chat at on4kst.com. If I'm out in the shed playing
radio, I'm also available on that chat.

Turns out I am available for 222 Tues. tonight -- should
be out there from 0000-0200Z, give or take.

     73,
     Todd KC9BQA
