Hi all;
Just a quick note to inform the folks here, that they need to be nearer to their radios for the upcoming weeks.
This summer is shaping up so far to be one of the best E-skip seasons that I have ever seen. (and that goes back 35+ years)
6 meters has been open practically every day over the last week, and 2 meters opened last night from my QTH into Texas, rather spotty but consistent for more than a half hour. (It could have been more, but the wife started to get testy as we had not yet made and eaten dinner)
On 6, I worked a few Caribbean stations, including FY (French Guiana) which is a path of 3400 miles. Europe could be next!! Plus, a few in our area have already reported hearing the big Japanese stations who CQ to NA every late afternoon.
If the path lengths shorten under 400 miles on 6 meter openings, watch 2 meters closely, and if things begin to happen up on 144, work the stations quickly, as the e-skip on 144 can be flaky, and shifts suddenly, so keep the QSOs short, or you may lose them, or rob another BCer (or NLRSer) a chance at a new grid or state!!
So, you sleepy heads, crack open the squelches and get moving!!
