Actually, the 2700km path was N-S across the eastern Atlantic, from the Cape 
Verde Islands (off the western edge of Africa) to southern Portugal.  If I had 
to guess, I guess that the water temperature is somewhat colder than the Med. 
But then, at the Cape Verde Islands end of the path is where Atlantic hurricains 
are born, so....

But one of these days, we do need to go back to Lake Superior.
