Chris, thanks for the heads up (http://aptos.arrl.org/contests/). Here
are some comments from the cheap seats -
2009 10 GHz & Up Contest Results: The NLRS group had another great
showing in this fun event. First place in the 10 GHz Only category went to W9FZ,
second place was a tie between N0UK and W0ZQ, 4th place went to K0HAC, 5th
place to N0KP, 7th place to WA2VOI, 8th place to W0JT, and 12th place to
N0EDV. In the 10 GHz & Up category first place went to WB0LJC and 7th place
to W0GHZ. Great show everyone ! Check out the link to see a dazzling
write-up and some nice JPGs of FZ, LJC, UK, and HJZ. You may notice that the
contest write-up is by your author, W0ZQ - this was the fifth year that I
have had the privilege, however I have informed KX9X that this was my last
year. The 2010 contest will feature a new author.
September VHF: K1TEO has a fantastic write-up that devoted some
significant space to cover "Midwest Mania" - the effort led by W9FZ/R to replicate
our UHF Rovermania in the Midwest for September. A really fun read all
around. Regarding the club competition, usually by September the NLRS is
pretty drained from the June Contest, the UHF Contest and two weekend of the 10
GHz & Up contest, and it shows in our score. Of 23 clubs in the medium
catagory, NLRS placed 11th with 15 logs. Of note, the Southern California
Contest Club practiced their rover pack roving, all within their club circle,
to grab the # 1 spot over NEWS. This is the same practice that they used to
grab the # 1 spot in the UHF contest. K1TEO's write-up does paint a world
of two different roving styles.
73, Jon
