Hello NLRS land
This is a final reminder that the Minnesota QSO Party is this Saturday, Feb 6, from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM CST. The contest has both a VHF and an HF competition so you can play on HF, VHF, or both and submit two logs. The contest exchange is your first name and your county - for example "Jon Hennepin". On HF, there is activity on both CW and SSB - you can work a station once per mode on each band (for example, your can work W0ZQ on 40m CW and again on 40m SSB). All the rules and information that you need are located at http://www.w0aa.org/mnqp.htm , or ask me !
This is a really fun and layed back contest and a great way to promote contesting and the State of Minnesota. As the entire World is looking for Minnesota stations, you need to find a clear spot on the band and call "CQ Minnesota QSO Party". The suggested frequencies for the contest are 1850, 3550, 7050, 14050, 21050, and 28050 on CW and 1870, 3850, 7250, 14270, 21350, and 28450 on SSB.
With the mild weather ahead of us, its a great time to throw up a 20, 40, 80m dipole and to have some fun. Have you ever tried HF contesting - this is your chance as its a very relaxed environment. If you are looking for something different to do, throw the FT100, etc, in the car and head to a new county or two - each time you enter a new county you are "fresh meat" just like when a VHF rover crosses into a new grid.
Hope to hear you on the bands this weekend regardless of whatever band & mode you choose.
73, Jon
W0ZQ/m
