Well, I'm now 2 for 2 with having our anniversary getaway
coincide with a huge tropo opening. Worked out perfectly
in 2009 and 2010. Hope you guys enjoyed it.
If there's anything left in your VHF/UHF tank, consider
operating during 222 Tuesday tonight. It's a general USA/VE
activity night for the 222/223 band, and it's only as good as
222 users make it. Most guys get on toward 0030-0100Z.
Rover stations -- consider putting an unusual grid on the air
during the various nets and activity nights. Announce your plans
ahead of time so guys will get on and look for you.
Also consider taking someone who's interested in roving with
you so they can get a low-key taste of how it works. With the
ARRL Sept. VHF QSO Party less than 3 weeks away
(Sept. 11-12th) this is a good time to encourage a new rover.
